A support group for all those who are dealing with grief is forming. The group will meet the first Saturday of each month from 10 to 11 am at the First Baptist Church, 104 W. Central Ave, in Jefferson.
The group is for those who are grieving and those who have experienced loss or grief in their lives. “Any are welcome to attend, either as a support or in need of support,” said Pastor Devin Wolters of First Baptist Church. “Death or non-death, grief comes in many forms and for many reasons. That’s why all are welcome to come.”
The group will be hosted by Pauline Borst, who has 24yeras of experience leading support groups. Much of her work has been in the area of substance abuse, but she has also led grief support groups. Pastor Wolters describes Borst as “a very caring person who loves anyone she comes in contact with.”
The group is for persons of all faiths. “When dealing with grief it’s important to know that something greater than ourselves will be helping us through these challenging situations. Just as with an AA group, there is an acknowledgment of a high being, so it will be with this group, but in a way that accepts all,” Pastor Wolters said. “Pauline has a deep faith yet will lead the group in a way that does not force religion upon anyone.”
The group’s first gathering will be Saturday, Feb. 2.
